Director, LEGACY Youth Project
Carlos is a Xicano-Filipino teacher and activist who was raised with the values of social justice and love for the community. A youth developer for the past 20 years, Carlos has worked with elementary, middle, high school and college students in San Francisco, New York City and Napa Valley. Currently, he is a professor at Napa Valley College, the College of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University and Prescott College in Arizona. Additionally, Carlos is a Co-founder and Director of the nationally recognized LEGACY Youth Project (LYP), a 5-12th grade ethnic studies and youth leadership program in the Napa Valley. He previously served as a board of trustee for the Napa Valley Unified School District and is a consultant in culturally responsive education for Acosta Educational Partnership. Carlos holds a B.A. in Raza Studies and an M.A. in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University.
