School Social Worker, Napa Valley Unified School District
Kristin Nelson is a School Social Worker for the Wellness Program Initiative at Napa Valley Unified School District. Kristin holds a Master in Social Welfare and Master in Public Health degree from UC Berkeley. Using an MTSS/PBIS framework, Kristin has over 10 years of experience providing and coordinating school-based mental health and behavioral supports in elementary, middle and high school settings in San Francisco and Napa. Direct services she has provided include 1:1 and group counseling, case management, crisis response and program coordination for Tier 2 interventions (Check In Check Out and Mentoring). She also provides professional development training for school staff in Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Creating Trauma-Sensitive School Environments, Tier 2 Behavior Interventions, and Wellness/Self Care for Educators.
